Learning to Needle Felt

I have recently discovered the art of Needle Felting, which is brand new to me. Knitting and embroidery as well as crochet, and some sewing are things that I have tried in the past, and enjoyed learning. I was hoping to find the same enjoyment in felting. Searching youtube, I have been following Philippa, who has a very good playlist about learning the art of “Needle Felting”. She makes the entire process look so easy! Her finished products are real masterpieces. Check out her channel as she covers so many different aspects from tools and tips to selling your products and shipping. She is such a wonderful resource.

I went on a searched for tools and wools to work with, and in my location this was not easy. I started at Michaels for supplies, but was disappointed in the selection. The inventory was depleted on almost all the natural coloured roving and all that was left was a package of rainbow tints. The small package amounts for about $15 had only about 3 oz of wool enclosed and I was looking for larger amounts, about a pound for the stuffing part of the 3D animals I wanted to make.

We jumped in the car and drove in a radius of about 2 hours from our house in search of the wool batting, checking every craft store I could locate. Six hours later, and without any wool, we returned home.

My thoughts then turned to Amazon for help. I was able to find the following, which I ordered.

Stay tuned for the next post where I try out some of the new tools and methods shown by Philippa. With any luck, I may be able to produce something.
